For an entry level aquarium many people choose a 10 gallon fish tank. Such small aquariums are inexpensive to set up and cheap for the initial purchase. Though small a 10 gallon tank is still a vast improvement on using a fish bowl it is still rather small compared to most aquariums.
What To Keep In A 10 Gallon Aquarium
Small fish in sparse numbers are the best things to keep in a 10 gallon setup. Some mountain minnows or a small goldfish could make such tanks their home. Remember that someday the goldfish will outgrow the aquarium at which time it should be placed in a larger tank or put into a pond.
For a tropical 10 gallon fish tank a 50 watt heater will be sufficient to warm the water. In here a few guppies or a Siamese fighting fish could be quite happy.
